COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — MY Project USA hosted a Freedom Forward Community Circle event Wednesday, allowing young people to talk about what freedom means to them.

Organizers said the event is designed to be a safe space for all to come, listen, and share ideas.

A local nonprofit is taking proactive steps to foster change and safety in the community. My Project USA, based in the Hilltop area, has launched a new initiative called the Freedom Forward Community Circle. This program is designed to bring together city and community leaders with young people to address pressing issues and develop solutions.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Hilltop community group is facing a huge budget shortfall said it's now scrambling to find cash to prevent services and staffing reductions.

For more than a decade, MY Project USA has fed needy families and kept kids away from guns and gangs in west Columbus, but now the organization says it's facing a shortfall of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Teens who've participated in its programs in the past are now looking to give back.
